For this assignment, we were tasked with making an accordion photo book about a part of Coney Island. I noticed that there were American flags all over and found it ironic considering that the flags were used as sort of an accessory to the rampant consumerism amusement park and boardwalk, which is not inherently patriotic.
I used a halftone effect on the images and superimposed red and blue to highlight the flags in each photo and waving lines to represent the stars and stripes that connected the spreads. On the back, I photographed close-ups of different walls and textures that were red, white, and blue.
